Aramid/Kevlar Fiber Fabric
Aramid fabric is a textile material made from aramid fibers. Aramid fibers are a class of synthetic polymers. They are known for their exceptional strength, heat resistance, and durability. The term "termaramid" comes from "aromatic polyamide," which refers to its molecular structure made of rigid aromatic (benzene ring) groups linked by amide bonds.
Advantage: First, it resists corrosion and lasts a long time.
Secondly, it is strong but light. The strength of the prepreg can reach 6-12 times that of steel, and it is only one-fourth as dense as steel.
Thirdly, it has good plasticity. The prepreg can be made into any shape based on the mold shape. This is because the mold is easy to form and process.
Key Feature:
-Lightweight: Lower density than steel or glass fiber (~1.44 g/CM²).
-High Tensile Strength: Comparable to steel (2,500-3,600 MPa).
-Flame Resistance: Self-extinguishing; does not melt or drip,
-Thermal Stability: Retains strength at temperatures up to 400-500°C (varies by type).
-Chemical Resistance: Resistant to solvents, fuels, and abrasion.
Application:
Para-aramid (Kevlar-type):
-Ballistic Protection: Bulletproof vests, helmets, vehicle armor.
-Cut Resistance: Industrial gloves, chainsaw chaps.
-Aerospace: Reinforcement for aircraft panels and rotor blades.
-Automotive: High-performance tires, brake pads.
Meta-aramid (Nomex-type):
-Firefighting Gear: Heat-resistant suits, hoods, and gloves.
-Electrical Insulation: Transformer components, circuit boards.
-Industrial: Conveyor belts, hoses, and thermal insulation.
